The job of setting up your garage door is pretty straightforward, right? You just hire a reputable garage door company in the Greater New Orleans area; they install your new doors and set you up with your garage door opener.

Done and done. Or is it?

While you may think that all you need is one standard garage door opener, the truth is our clients benefit from having several additional openers, including:

  • Extra remotes
  • A wireless keypad
  • Wireless wall buttons

Here's why you might benefit from these additional openers for your home.

Don't worry about lost keys or dead remotes

Let's say, for example, that your standard garage door opener suddenly malfunctions. This could be a real inconvenience, unless you have additional remotes to gain you access to your garage. A wireless keypad, for example, is a keyless entry that requires a passcode, rather than a key. That means that even if you lost your house keys, or the garage door opener in your car dies, you still can get inside.

If you have kids, you know how often they misplace things. Sure, a homework assignment or shoe is one thing, but a missing key? That can be scary. By adding additional garage door openers to your system, you can forego the need to give your children keys to get in the house. Instead, install a wireless wall button or keypad, and provide your children with an easy-to-remember access code. That way you never have to worry about them misplacing something as valuable as your house key.

Having additional remotes strategically placed (such as in other cars or, perhaps, attached to your keyring) is also a viable strategy.

Guest codes come in handy!

Having one remote control that you take with you in your car can prevent you from offering temporary guest codes (which you can do via a wireless keypad, for example). So, why would you need to set up a temporary guest code? Let's say you're having guests over from out of town, and they're arriving while you're at work.

There used to be a time when you left a spare key under that flowerpot (you know what we're talking about!) but that's not really all that safe. Instead, you can set up a temporary guest code (which expires at a certain time) and provide that code to your guests.

This could also work if you need to allow access to a repairman, baby sitter or service provider.

Make it quick and easy to get in and out of your garage

Your standard garage door opener in your car is great for when you're coming home from work. But what about when you're doing work around the yard, or inside your garage? Don't you want quick and easy access in and out? That's why so many of our clients choose to outfit their garages with wireless entry points. If your opener is located inside, all you'll likely need is a wall button. But if you want to add an entry point outside, we of course recommend a wireless keypad. With both of these openers working in conjunction with one another, you'll never have to struggle to get in and out of your garage.
